THE gloomy weather may dampen the atmosphere, but there is no reason for your wardrobe to suffer the same fate. Lacoste’s Fall/Winter collection has just the right combination of fun and sporty to lighten up your mood this season, with three distinct looks.

Inspired by the 50s American campus and an “existentialist” wardrobe, the College look uses nautical shades like navy blue and white as its main colour palette. The freshly-interpreted basics present collared navy shirts over preppy pleated skirts for women, while for men, the structured nylon sports jacket is worn over wide-cut pants.

Meanwhile, the Psychedelic Classic look is a colourful collision between Dianne Keaton’s Annie Hall style and Fiorucci’s flamboyant shades.

For instance, the men’s look highlights soft destructured jersey pants paired with a polo shirt in striking pink and bubble-gum pink bow tie, topped off with a wool blend sweater with polka dots. Fashionistas: This Budd's For You - WCW INSIGHT

Last year, the fashion world was a buzz with news that Budd’s in the Piccadilly Arcade had been sold. It was bought not by some luxury group but by the venerable Savile Row tailor, Huntsman. The good news is with the exception of a facelift, the place is the exactly the same. Huntsman understands there is no point to tampering with perfection.

In my view, Budd’s is the “go to” shirt maker for men that appreciate English tradition. Budd has been quietly making some of the best-bespoke shirts in the world since 1910. In those 99 years it has moved just once, across the Piccadilly Arcade from number 4 to number 3, when the former suffered bomb damage in the Second World War. It is the only original member of the Arcade still trading. Everyone else has faded away.

Think of the incredible madder ties of Lord’s, Astley’s, the pipe maker, Sullivan & Powell, the original Maxwell’s or Swaine, Adney, and Brigg once on Piccadilly and you get the picture. Perhaps this is all the more reason that men cherish Budd’s. Its heritage is the genuine article.
