FABRIC AND FRIENDS FIRST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

I heard about it for months.

"Have you seen the new quilt shop in Roanoke?"

"It has a man-cave."

"The fabric selection is huge."

Even my non-quilting friends were raving about the place.

It's not that Roanoke is so far from where I live, but with juggling several restoration projects and my other work I just hadn't gotten around to making the trip.

A couple of weeks ago I called the Fabric and Friends Quilt Shop to inquire of their hours and location. I couldn't have called at a better time, for the F & FQS was preparing to celebrate their first birthday that very weekend, and it wasn't going to be some small affair!

Over the phone I get the details. What? BOGO fabric sale, free chicken fajita bar, cupcakes and ice cream, located in an old Victorian mansion. What more could a quilt lover ask for? Thursday could not come soon enough. After work a friend and I venture out. The drive isn't long and soon we see the long trail of cars parked up and down in front of the mansion. We go past all of them turn around and land a spot almost directly in front.
