The day after Christmas is one of the busiest days of the year for Siouxland retailers, second only to Black Friday. And maybe the day before Christmas.

But added to the rush of customers checking out the post-Christmas bargains is the crush of gifted citizens bringing back those gifts for exchanges or refunds. You know the gifts, the necktie Dad wouldn't be caught dead in or the blouse that's two sizes too small for Millie. Which brings us for advice to two Christmas return veterans at Sioux City's Younkers: store manager Aundrea McCadams and sales manager Barb Taylor.

"Basically, the day after Christmas is just as crazy as the day before, especially with the early morning rush," McCadams said, noting that the store opens Monday at 6 a.m. "It's pretty much a frenzy in here for the after-Christmas.

"And our philosophy is to try to return everything into an exchange gift. There are definitely people that got the wrong size or they didn't care for what they got. So the big thing is, they'll come in and because our prices are a little bit low, we'll try to exchange it for them. So it's definitely a higher return day. It's called Arrange and Exchange. That's what we try to do for the customer.
